  1. I have a question, I was just diagnosed a few months ago and started DBT therapy. I have been going once a week and now my therapist is on maternity leave. So they have me seeing a CBT therapist in the meantime every other week. I just learned of a DBT group forming in my area that starts next week, for once a week for 6 months. Do you think it would benefit me to do it in addition to therapy?

    1. Hmm...I'm not a therapist, so I can't say for sure if this will benefit you...however it sounds like the clinic you attend is recommending it. It may be worth a shot. CBT and DBT are different, but any skills you can learn to help your distress until you get into the DBT group will probably be very helpful. I also have another idea. 2. Hello Debbie..i just found your blog and have found it very informative. i was diagnosed with Bpd almost 3 yrs ago after seeing psychiatrists for 8yrs. I applied for a DBT course which had a huge waiting period. Whilst waiting i researched and began the journey of comoing to terms with my condition, reflecting on my entire life and realizing how my condition had evolved and affected my choices ect,,,It took 18months to get into the course..Unfortunately during that time i became disabled with a back condition that requires heavy pain medication and affects my ability to function physically in an unpredictable manner.I could no Longer commit to the 2 days weekly for 2yrs course. i was gutted. I struggle with my condition plus dealing with constant pain, only the depth varies. Im seeing surgeons, have lost weight, embarking on another round of physio, and swimming. Ive had to put the physical issues first. After my back is dealt with & providing i improve i intend to apply again. However i truly need to do DBT now!!as my pain has amplified my emotional states....ive briefly searched for access to an online DBT course..no success....Is there any online course or somewhere i can at least get the basic most valuable lessons to study.. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.... yours sincerely M,V

  3. Hi, again, Debbie. Still purusing your blog. Lots of great info. I have a friend who is looking for a DBT therapist online (she's lives in a small town with no DBT within 100's of miles of her.) I'll DM you on twitter about it. thx.
