The Book is Here! "Healing From Borderline Personality Disorder: My Journey Out of Hell Through Dialectical Behavior Therapy" by Debbie Corso

Healing From Borderline Personality Disorder: My Journey Out of Hell Through Dialectical Behavior Therapy chronicles two years of the author navigating DBT, the treatment of choice for those diagnosed with BPD.

It is a compilation a selection of the author’s first 100 posts at her popular personal mental health blog, and more. At the urging of her readers worldwide, this book was born out of the need of many seeking hope and direction as they cope with a diagnosis once thought to be hopeless, even among the most qualified psychiatric professionals.

In addition to the blog posts are never before published retrospective commentaries from her new perspective at her second year through DBT, a never before published autobiographical sketch, answers to questions submitted by her blog readers, a resource section, and more.

Corso lights the way of hope and recovery for a severely emotionally wounded community. Introduction by Kiera Van Gelder, MFA and author of The Buddha & The Borderline.

Debbie Corso is a mental health blogging pioneer, courageously chronicling her journey while lighting a torch to provide hope to a severely emotionally wounded community. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from New York Institute of Technology in Interdisciplinary Studies in English, Communications, and Behavioral Science and a certificate in Early Childhood Development.

Her work as an Intake Coordinator and Case Manager at a non-profit organization, working closely with children at risk for abuse and neglect, was the catalyst that propelled her to document and share her powerful journey through her blog and now this book. She lives in sunny Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I really look forward to hearing what you think.  Please do let me know.

This book is a labor of love, and I am so grateful to my new friend, Kiera Van Gelder, author of The Buddha and the Borderline for mentoring me through the final stages of this process and for writing me the most beautiful introduction I could ever hope for.

"The authenticity, directness and clarity of the shared internal experiences in this book give life, meaning and understanding to clinical terms such as 'splitting' and 'translating DSM symptoms' to a complex and unique person. I share Debbie’s views that there is not one approach that works for everyone, and from a clinician’s perspective, having choices of approaches, strategies and resources in crafting an approach that works for the individual suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder, is the essence of a favorable therapeutic outcome.... I believe that reading this book would be helpful for both clinicians as well as those experiencing the emotional suffering of BPD."

~ Dr. Robert F. Fischer MD,
Executive Director of OPI Living Programs, including the Roanne Program, a specialized BPD
treatment program for young adults ages 17-28 who suffer from BPD or BPD traits and co-occurring
conditions. Dr. Fischer is a practicing child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist with nearly 35 years of
    experience helping families.

  1. It is fantastic to see the book is now available. I had the pleasure of editing the book and realised, as someone who does not suffer from the condition, how helpful the advice and techniques are for coping with 'normal' life in general. So while the book is a must-have for sufferers to really see in practice how these techniques can be applied to situations directly, it's also insightful and helpful for all of us. After all, while some of us might not be diagnosed with a mental health issue, there is no doubt that with the challenges life brings, we all walk a fine line between what is deemed to be 'normal' and what is not. So I know the power of this book and I really wish it well. Debz
