Creating Safety: The Boundary Bubble (Boundaries & BPD)



In this brief, no-frills video, I talk about the challenges that emotionally sensitive people, such as those of us with Borderline Personality Disorder, face when it comes to boundaries.  I also introduce more information on creating a boundary bubble as a self-help tool.

  1. Such a wonderful and useful video! Another phrase/mantra I often incorporate is, "I get to choose MY battles. I do not have to fight everyone elses battles."

  2. Hi, Debbie! I loved the video. Something I was taught which helps me is to visualize a hula hoop around me. I am only responsible for what goes on within my hula hoop - so, things that affect me directly. I used to be great at being affected by everyone else's stuff, a lot of which had nothing to do with me. I have really made improvements in this area, and I'm so grateful.

  3. When I was teaching, we taught the kids "a hula hoop away" to talk about personal space. We incorporated discussing feelings and what's ok and what's not, depending on the individual child's needs and wants. I loved teaching that lesson because it always brought a sense of autonomy and a voice for kids to express their boundaries. Something I think that gets lost for a lot of us as we grow older. <3
