I was told you don't recover from BPD, as with many chronic mental health disorders. I myself have rebounded from BPD symptoms, but I still see them surface occasionally. I haven't watched the video yet, but wanted to say I'm always skeptical of stories stating recovery from chronic disorders. Maybe this one will change my mind.

This was great, thanks for sharing these "real life" experiences that gives us some understanding of what our loved ones are going through, but mostly letting us know that there is hope. I would like to see it from a male point of view since females are wired so differently, just to see how they manifest it and also their thoughts on therapy.

Thank you so much for your kind comment, Victoria. Our director did put a casting call out for men, but there were no takers. Hopefully something like this can be done in a follow-up film. ♥

I'd really love to understand how you got DBT through a clinic? I cannot find any therapist that takes my insurance for DBT.I am tired of hearing of everyones success while I at 41 have had the worst therapists and have to pay at least 300 a week for DBT. I have gotten worse. Why? 20 years of therapy that didnt work and more and more people leaving has just ruined me more. I'm truly at the end of my rope. I'd like to quit my job of 18 years because it seems to me that if you are on medicare you might get treatment, if you have money you can afford treatment, someone in the middle like me gets absolutely nothing.

Geez, Maria. I can imagine how frustrated you must be with the lack of services in your area. I have private insurance, and the psychiatric clinic I attend for therapy, etc. offers DBT groups as part of their services. I know you are not alone. I've seen concerns like this from many people. DBT really does need to go from being a service that only some can access to being acknowledged as the (often) life saving treatment that it is, and be more readily available. Thank you for commenting.

    Great Documentary!
I think I'm dating someone with BPD. One day she would be so warm to me, the next day (literally) she'll be cold. She has cut me out of her life twice and both times, I have been very patient doing small things showing i really cared for her. When I'm with her, i feel like i'm walking on egg shells and afraid of what will cause her to completely cut me out of her life. Well, I feel like she's having another episode and I don't know what I should do, dating her has been an emotional roller coaster yet I don't want to abandon her because I really care for her.

This is a great video. I am a recovered former borderline and only wish this had been available when I was first diagnosed with BPD 10 ears ago. I hope that people will see this before they hear from the pessimists who spread misinformation about the disorder being untreatable.

El Grande, I'm very sympathetic to the fact that MANY men suffer from BPD. See the archives for some related articles. I am also closely affiliated with OPI/Roanne Program, the only program in the US that helps both men and women with BPD in their intensive programs. The producer of this film did reach out to cast men and women, but quite unfortunately, she did not have men respond. Thank you for your comment.

Hello, I'm 25 and was recently diagnosed with BPD. The diagnosis is making me feel a little lonely. I'm not sure who I should talk to about it, and I am scared that when I do — people will judge me. Anyway, I'm curious as to how I should approach my family and friends. 😀 I'd really love any advice! 🙂 Thank you so much!

I found this when I was looking for help coping with dissociative episodes. I connect with all of this documentary. It's been so hard for me to accept this diagnosis, for myself. It's like I need more evidence that this is what I really have. And seeing this documentary gives me more evidence for the illness and hope. I connect with everything and everyone in this documentary. Thank you.
