Trusting Your Inner Stream
guest post by Dr. Tamra Sattler, MFT
My client sheepishly said she had something to tell me and worried it would disrupt our relationship. With open eyes I asked her to share. She read my book without telling me and felt a little sneaky about it. I replied if any of my disclosure made her uncomfortable or if there was anything she wanted to discuss. With tears in her eyes, she said it changed her life. And she hasn’t felt so understood and drum roll please “she now knows she will be okay.”
For the rest of the session, I was on the edge of shocked and also delighted. My book found its way to the person I wrote it for. After the session I called my brother and sister and some friends. There was a deep resonance that after feeling so ambivalent I had a deeper alignment.
There are so many times we do things and how often do we have that inner sense of “yes,” and thank goodness.
It seems like there is a way to feel into your next decision to see if it is coming from conditioning/personality/ego or from a deeper inner more aligned place. The difference may be subtle and yet I know it when I feel. Hopefully you can feel the difference and if not bring it to your therapist or trusted friend. Life feels so beautiful when you can be with yourself and feel yourself. As opposed to thinking your feelings and trying desperately to get away from any feelings.
To my four sisters out there, or individuals with borderline characteristics. Maybe the book will speak to you or a loved one. “Too Much and Not Enough” is the book, feel free to reach out and let me know how it lands with you. Here is a wishing you are connected to your deeper stream and also named our Self.
